Jasa’s Timetrip dissects the effects of motorik dance music on the body and the mind. Timetrip arose from a need to acknowledge and present the psychedelic experience which can arise from listening to repetitive and cross-rhythmic musics. This effect is one where the body and the mind are locked into a trance like state, moving to the pulse of the music, being dictated by it. If you look around a dancefloor in this state of trance you will notice that different people find different pulses in the same music depending on which rhythms they are hearing most prominently.
Timetrip utilises a sonic pallet from the EDM environment. Sounds are cut into a plethora of different interlocking layered rhythms. These layers are pulled in and out of the fore, in and out of focus, to shift the listeners perception of pulse. The patterns in the work use multiple techniques of rhythmic deceit to augment and distort the sense of pulse felt in the body and the mind.

Three dance floor ready cuts of Timetrip are bought to you by up and comers Sunbu and Real Joanne as well as freshly established Polito.

Sunbu’s True Peak Mix cuts hard hitting overblown synths from the original into a familiar techno twister. Here, driving 909’s are laid over a bed of pad and off kilter stabs like strobes into the dark night. This True Peak Mix taps into the ecstatic through familiar dance floor energy. Lock in and let go

Polito pushes the experience of Timetrip further with their Big Wub. Sloppy dubstep basslines slip and slide beneath a collage of mechanical and whipping percussive sounds. The contrast of driving rhythms over woozy subs will leave the dancefloor entranced.

Finally Real Joanne flips Timetrip into straight IDM bliss. Ambiences are stretched to create warm velvet like pads. Bouncing through these hills of underscore, chopped breaks skip and loop with hard hitting snares and thudding kicks.
