Live & Direct is a collection of 5 loaded groove tracks. Each track was written in a single session and recordings where improvised. This approach to making music often comes from a need to break the rhythms of the studio. Recordings range from January of 2019 all the way through to April of 2020.

The result of these improvisations is 5 tracks with long form arrangements; each a meditation on a groove. Each track exercises the art of sequencing. Pulling techniques from producers such as Marie Davison, Boo Williams and Ian Pooley the intention is to understand how different programming techniques can light up a dance floor.

Opener Marie’s Dub pays homage to the incredible work of Marie Davidson and her attitudes towards her music and the industry.
Following this, aqueous synth melodies swim around New Dawn’s subby 808’s, accented by glistening synth chords.
Boohoo comes next, swirling synths lay a topographical landscape, a bouncing bass slips through the hills and airy bells shimmer like clouds; a dedication to Boo Williams’ art of programming for the dance floor.
Recollections of 18’ recounts memories of a strong sibling bond in the harshest of environments. Raw kicks and baselines are juxtaposed with floating high bells to recreate the almost testing landscape of 18’.
Finally Hotboxer goes out in a blaze of pacey glory. Here, Synths are pushed to the extreme as are the hard hitting drums; one for the sweaty groovers and the all nighters alike.

I hope they will find their place in your living room dance floors and inside your headphones too.
